The farm

I was looking at old pictures on my computer today and ran across this one. I wish it was clearer so you could see the true beauty of it. This was my dream, living here on this farm with horses! The two horses in the picture are Creampuff and Micky. Two of the greatest things about living here were having a great place for our first gsd Sasha to live her last years, oh how she loved this place, she loved cats and we had many and she loved the wide open space and fresh country air. The second greatest thing was riding with my husband, we had so many great rides. One of my favorite was on Christmas day, it was cold and frosty, we saddled up and headed out on Christmas morning, we visited with neighbors that came out when they heard the clip-clop of the horses hooves on the pavement. I had wished there had been more open land to ride on, like when I was a kid, but Lance never seemed to mind, as long as we found a place or two to gallop, or run like the wind as we like to call it. I used this picture for the cover of the book I wrote a couple of years back, I enjoyed being able to do that. I don't know that there is a more beautiful place on earth than this one, the red earth, white daisies and yellow weed, fir trees standing tall providing shade for the horses on hot days. I am thankful for the great memories of the farm. The great times I spent with my sister and husband here. You know those times when your not sure you did the right thing, made the right choice?!!? I know for sure living here was the right choice! Life changed, we bought our business, ten years ago now. I like where I am in life now, too. The city is fun in its own way and has a lot to offer, life is easier now. No stalls to clean or shots to give. I wish somehow I could slow it down a little though, its moving way to fast! Today I am thankful for the good in my past. Thankful for a great family to share life with and thankful for yet another sunny Oregon day.

Avery is getting big..!

I can't believe how big Avery has gotten. This is an older picture, I think he's gained 20 pounds or more. He was 77 pounds at the vet this week. Yes, the vet...again....! All three had been sick for 10 days, Traz was not eating at all by this week. The vet said the flu was going around, but I haven't ever had them be ill this long. I took her word for it, put them on the bland diet (potato flakes and cottage cheese) and they all seem better today. Traz even acts hungry. Hopefully this is all behind us. We have been enjoying great weather here in Oregon. Avery and I have been exploring our new area, we live blocks from a creek and a river! He is loving every minute of it. I will get some pictures of him swimming this year! I know he will love it. Today I am thankful for the sun, the beautiful Oregon landscape and for all the loves in my life.

Looking around my own backyard

This is a picture of silver falls, its not far from where we live. I sometimes forget just how beautiful Oregon is, but this place always reminds me to pay more attention to whats right here in front of us. Lance and I took Avery here a couple of months ago, he seemed to enjoy himself, he went pee in the creek, what more could a dog ask for. Oh, as of last week, Avery is no longer a puppy. He lifed his leg to pee, his aim isn't to good yet though, ha ha ha. Back to silver falls state park, it was the first place Lance and I ever went together, it was right after new years, so the year was 1979, we drove there in his fancy car a 1970 mach1 mustang, got stuck in the snow along with a dozen or more other people. We had a great time meeting people and pushing each others cars out, oh to be young again! It was a time we still enjoy remembering and laughing about. Those little things, the ones you dont pay much attention to at the time, really add up over the years. Today I am thankful for great past memories and look forward to making many new ones. I am thankful to have three sleeping dogs and all the laundry done..!

A year ago today

Avery came home with me a year ago. I can't imagine life without him in it. Today I am thankful for being in the right place at the right time. Thankful to have all three dogs healthy and happy and thankful for a husband that understands me.
